On Saturday, May 1, the Illinois ARES team will be doing a Simulated Emergency Test from 10 AM to 2 PM. The scenario is an earthquake in the southern part of the state. Simulated emergency messages will be passed locally, throughout the ARES districts and statewide to test message handling and net operation skills. Primary net operations and coordination will be on 3905 kHz. The Illinois Section ICS-205A can be reached through: https://ilares.org/ in the New Files In The Library Post.

An informal wellness net will begin at approximately 1 PM during the SET. All amateur operators are welcome to check in.

Net Schedules:

The regular ARES® statewide net meets the first and third Sundays of each month on 3.905 Mhz LSB at 4:30pm local time. If necessary, the alternate frequency is 7.230 Mhz LSB.

The ARE ® Statewide Digital Net will take place immediately following the Sunday HF nets, using the talkgroups listed below.

The Digital Voice Net has moved to Wednesday evenings at 8:00 pm Central time. You can check in using the Illinois-Link Talk Group, #31171.

The Illinois Link Talk Group is connected to WIRES-X Room 21565, DMR Talkgroup 31171, NXDN 31171, P25 31171, YSF Reflector Illinois Link 83132 , and on D-STAR XLX, DCS, AND XRF 334G and AllStar 42810

In addition to the usual net, we will conduct an informal 40M and 60M band check beginning at 4:10PM. At 4:10PM, we will call for stations on 7230 kHz. At 4:20PM, we will move to 60M, and repeat the call. The start frequency is 5403.5 kHz. (channel 5). If that frequency is busy, move up one to channel 1. If 1 is busy, then 2, etc., in that order. Remember, maximum power on 60M is 100 Watts ERP.
